甲冑競馬（KACHU-KEIBA ）

500騎の甲冑騎馬武者が出場し剣と手綱を持ち、先祖代々の旗をなびかせながら、
疾走する甲冑競馬がスタートします。

In this historical event, 500 mounted samurai in traditional Japanese armor, with long swords at their side and ancestral flagstaffs streaming from their backs, ride across open fields





神旗争奪戦（SHINKI SODATSU-SEN）
神旗争奪戦とは、ロケット花火で2本のご神旗を打ち上げ、
降りてくるところを騎馬武者が奪い合う戦いです。

A firework rocket sends two flags into the sky to drop down on the waiting horsemen.
They　are trying to catch the goshinki (god flags)





相馬市は2011年の震災で大きな被害を受けています。
福島第一原発事故による避難区域を含んだ市です。

家族を失い、自分の馬もうしなった騎馬もたくさんいることでしょう。
でも、まるで震災がなかったかのような雰囲気でした。
相馬の人たちは、このお祭りに対して強い思いを持っているのだと思います。




SomaCity was heavily damaged by the earthquake and tsunami on March 11th 2011 and includes the nuclear evacuation zone.
Many of horseback riders lost their family members, houses and horses.

The mood itself 　looked like no earthquake damage
People　living in Minami Soma have strong feelings for the festival.
